We can't blame the kitten. Cats are curious by nature. They inspect unfamiliar things by getting close and staring and touching if something catches their attention. This method works well with cardboard boxes, bugs, the things you left on the kitchen counter… Well, not with crabs, apparently. Crabs can move SIDEWAYS. They can raise their claws too and return the curiosity. Just imagine this kitten learning those facts within seconds. Quite a life lesson for this little one.

The confidence is undeniable. The kitty raced toward the crab with one clear objective: not to leave questions unanswered. And he got his answer. Not the one he expected, though. It probably felt like approaching your mom without realizing she was having a bad day, until she gave you that one look that said everything, so you decide to abort the mission and try on another time, or on another day.

The funniest part is how the kitten's confidence disappeared without any warning. He thought he had control of the situation until he saw those orange claws rising and felt the best option was to run. The crab reclaimed his peaceful beach day and his section of sand. Kitty, this is not your territory. Get out of my house.
Anyway, the encounter was pretty funny. The crab stood his ground and protected his peace and his territory, while the kitten learned a life lesson. Investigate first, keep your distance second, and never underestimate a small animal on the beach. Wrong opponent, kitty.
